• Artist Spotlight: K2T

On the eve of his "No Rain, No Rainbow" EP, we caught up with Karan aka K2T to talk about his creative process, inspirations and his mini Scandanavian tour!

An accomplished producer with a huge back catalogue, K2T touches down with us for his first full release with Outer Edge Audio. The NRNR EP is a real reflection of his versatility as a producer and showcases a number of different styles.

OE: First things first, for those that don’t know, who is K2T?
K2T: My real name is Karan and I am an electronic music producer that loves to create all styles just for fun. Outside of music I work in IT (like a lot of DnB producers come to think of it!)

OE: It’s fair to say that your approach to making music is extremely versatile, something that’s very much on display in this EP. Could you talk us through the inspirations behind some of the tracks?
K2T: I can’t just make the same type of tune again and again, it would bore me beyond belief. ‘Time Skip’ was originally a remix for another project that fell through but then I made an original from it with the aim of fusing old school and more modern styles of DnB. ‘Mr Famous’ is named after a dog that my partner came across one day which I just thought was the funniest name for a dog! The title track was my take on making a tune with as much emotional depth as a number of classic liquid vocal numbers, especially since I haven’t made that many vocal tunes. And finally ‘Do Geese See God” is my attempt at making a tune that is a palindrome of itself while  centering it around a polyrhythmic arp.

OE: What’s your favourite track on the EP?
K2T: It has to be the title track ‘No Rain, No Rainbow’, I’m so happy that I got to have vocals by two people who I love and am hugely fond of, that being MissGray and Twelve Step Audio and I strongly believe that this tune showcases their vocal talents at their best. It was truly a great time making this tune and also was really nice to see how receptive they were at the lyrical concept and ideas I threw at them.

OE: You’re currently in the middle of a mini Scandinavian tour, how’s that been?
K2T: Honestly its been so surreal! At the time of writing this, I am a few days away from playing a show in Denmark for Outer Village Audio while also having just completed a 2 hour headline set for Bass Blasted over in Sweden. The crowd in Sweden were so much fun to play to and it really made me quite emotional to think that all this music stuff that I’ve done for the last 8 years has led me to play a show like that! Also being able to play some of my own music and it be really well received is definitely a feeling like no other!

OE: If you had to pick one track or album that changed the way you think about music, what would it be?
K2T: I’ll go with albums for this one, if I wevre to go for something modern then I would say KOAN Sounds ‘Led by Ancient Light’. The production on that album is absolutely unreal and mind-blowing, and I think the storytelling and versatility are things that I strive for. For something a bit older I would go for Michael Jackson’s ‘Off the Wall’ album – I just think its so well written and you could just feel the fun emanating from every track, which has always been the end goal for me, to showcase how fun it can be to make music and to enjoy the process.

OE: What does 2026 have in store for K2T?
K2T: I’ve got two EPs lined up so far, one with Interstellar Audio alongside Shodan which features some of the most aggressive music I’ve ever made, so very different to this EP on Outer Edge. I also am self-releasing an EP on a second label I’m making for myself to be able to express creativity and fun – That has some liquid tunes including a vocal tunes from me and a tune I’ve been getting constant messages to release for about 4 years! After that I plan to release my second LP which is more of a series of LPs that I’m working on to once again to express how fun it can be to just create anything at all. My label Detached Audio is now back after putting out the Reattached LP, and we have a number of super talented artists working on EPs and singles for the label, so a lot to look out for there as well. No gigs locked in just yet but maybe, we shall see!

K2T's "No Rain, No Rainbow" EP is out on Friday 28th November on Outer Edge Audio.
