Rising from the ashes: MissGray returns to Outer Edge!
Kent based producer MissGray makes her return to Outer Edge Audio with the Rise Again Remix EP.
The original Rise EP centered around MissGray’s journey of personal growth, achieving her goals and self discovery. The Rise Again remixes EP reimagines these tracks, with eight hand picked producers stepping up and providing stunning, lovingly reworked versions of each track.
We caught up with MissGray to find out what she's been up to since the original Rise EP release, get her thoughts on the new remix EP and what inspires her when making music!
OE: So, we’re around five months on from the Rise EP, what have you been up to since?
MG: It has been a busy few months for me but I have still been making some music in the background. I’ve had a few gigs, supporting Telomic and Keeno in Nottingham and really just working my normal job in between. I have also just got back from my second Mountain Bass in Spain, what a week. It was really special.
OE: Lots going on then! The Rise EP was a very personal record, how did you feel releasing a record to the world that contains so much of yourself? Are you pleased with how the release was received?
MG: I'm very pleased. It was quite daunting to put something that personal out there, but at the same time I believe that if someone out there can resonate with it or understand it then it is worth it. I'm so pleased people like the music and enjoy listening to it.
OE: Speaking generally, what excites you about making music?
MG: Well, it's different for DJ'ing and production. With production, the minute an idea starts to potentially sound like a track I could finish, that’s when I get excited. I then don’t move from my desk until the whole track is laid out and all my ideas are in the DAW. With DJ'ing, it is everything about going on a journey through the music when I'm playing a set, seeing people get lost in the tunes and just enjoying the moment is beautiful.
OE: Tell us a little bit about how the remix project came about and what it means to you?
MG: It's really special. It's the first time I have had people remix my music for a release and I really love to hear what people do with the tracks. I was asked by a friend if they could remix one of my tunes, and then the idea was born for a remix EP which then turned into an album. I love the fact that there are eight very different remixes. They have all done a fantastic job, I am really pleased.
OE: Do you have a favourite? Are there any remixes on there that we should particularly look out for?
MG: I couldn’t pick a favourite, they are all too good! I love the fact that some tracks are still liquid, they still have the emotion in them that originates from the original Rise EP. Then a few others push into other DnB genres and make you get up and dance. Watch out for the Mountains remix by K2T, he really went in on my prettiest tune to date!
OE: As we head into the summer months, what’s next for MissGray?
I have a lot of ideas for new music, lots of vocals to do over the summer too. There are a few gigs lined up but they haven’t been announce yet so keep your eyes peeled for those.
We certainly will...
